Australia offers many options for those wishing to study, work and spend a period of time in the country. One of these options is Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417)This is a visa for young people who want to take a vacation and work down under.
The visa allows you to stay in Australia for up to 12 months, work for up to six months for each employer, study for up to four months and enter and leave the country as many times as you want while the visa is valid.

After a year of working and enjoying Australia, you can still apply for a second visa, which lasts another year. To do this, you will need
- Comply with all the conditions of the first Working Holiday Visa;
- Do not hold more than one Working Holiday Visa;
- Complete three months of work in specific regions of Australia while the first Working Holiday Visa is in force;
- Not yet 31 years old.
If you are already in Australia and want to stay, you must apply for a second Working Holiday Visa before the first one expires and you reach the age of 31.
*For passport holders from France, Ireland and Canada, the age limit is 35.
Other requirements and special features
The Working Holiday Visa applicant must also meet certain health requirements. The tests required will depend on personal circumstances, including length of stay, country of citizenship, time spent in another country during the last five years and intended activities in Australia. Exam results are generally valid for 12 months.
While in the land of the kangaroo, the holder of this type of visa is responsible for all medical costs and does not have access to Medicare (national health plan), unless the country of origin has a reciprocal health agreement with Australia.
Australia is an extremely safe country and, in order to maintain this achievement, the government can also request a "police check" (criminal record certificate) from each country in which you have lived for 12 months or more in the last 10 years after your 16th birthday.
