Looking for a good job in Australia? To accomplish this mission, you must have an Australian curriculum, with the information that is most valued by the Aussie recruiters

To present a good resumé is an essential step in the process of getting a good job. But the curriculum vitae styles vary from country to country - in each region, the recruiters value some information more than others. So, in order to get a good job in Australia, you must create an Australian resumé.

Although it has the same premise as popular curriculums in other countries, Australian resumé dismisses some information (including, for instance, the applicant's picture), it values more skills and experiences and it should be presented with a cover letter.

Check out, below, tips to develop a good Australian resumé.

1. Simplify your personal information

The Australian recruiters prefer that the personal information is presented in a simple way. It is not necessary to share your picture or your date of birth.

Instead, focus on informing your name, contact information (email and phone number), nationality, type of visa and your availability to work (30 hours per week, for example).

It is also recommended that you add a short paragraph about yourself: describe your profile, your goals and the type of work you are interested in in Australia.

2. Highlight skills on your Australian resumé

Australian recruiters are always very interested in the applicant's skills and abilities - so, this item should come before your education info.

Here, you must highlight your main skills - and give special attention to the abilities that are important to the job. If you are applying for a hospitality job, for instance, highlight extroversion, team work and proactivity.

If you are looking for your first job in Australia, give this section a special attention.

3. Describe your previous work experience

It is time to fulfill your resumé with the information about works you have done previously. Remember to inform the employer, your job position and the period you worked there. Then, add a short paragraph to describe your main functions.

4. Add your education info and references

It is important that the recruiters know what and where you studied or are studying. This part is very similar to resumés in other countries: inform the course, education institute (school or university, with city and country where it is located) and the conclusion period.

There is an important detail in the Australian curriculum: you should add the name, job and contact information of people who have worked with you and that may be your references.

5. Write a good cover letter

The cover letter is not common in all countries, but it is quite valued by Aussie recruiters.

This letter should be written specifically for the job you are applying to, because it is the opportunity to present yourself and show why you should get an interview and, then, be hired.

Write using a formal, professional and polite language and explain why you are the perfect fit to the job. Moreover, highlight important information in your resumé, such as the skills that you could apply to the job, your work experience that may contribute and good contacts for references.
