Many people believe that the best time to make a exchange is when you're young, just out of school and single. This is also an incredible time, but age and marital status don't rule out opportunities abroad.
In AustraliaHowever, it is permitted to study with a partner (regardless of gender) and/or children under the age of 18. The student's partner receives a dependency visa and has the same rights as the holder, the only difference being that they cannot study for more than three months in the country. Dependents under the age of 18 must continue their compulsory studies in the new country.
This is a great advantage of doing an exchange program Down Under, as the student's partner, for example, can work under the same rules as the visa holder and thus help with expenses during the experience abroad.
What do I need?
In order to exchange as a couple or family, the applicant must declare family members when applying for the visa. If the family member needs to join the student in Australia at a later date, it will be necessary to apply for a new student visa, now including the family member.
The family members of the exchange student must register as subsequent participants of the visa holder and therefore also need to provide certain documents, such as:
- Identity documents, such as a certified copy of your birth certificate and passport;
- Proof of your relationship to each family member, such as an official birth certificate or marriage certificate;
- Copy of the main page of your passport;
- Evidence from the education provider that the child is still studying;
- Proof of financial capacity;
- Evidence of school enrollment for school-age dependents;
- Evidence of health insurance for the couple and each dependent;
- Australian visa consent for all family members under the age of 18.
