In Australia, passports can be issued or renewed via Embassy of Brazil in Canberra or Consulate General of Brazil in Sydney.
To be eligible for a passport, you must:
- Being Brazilian;
- Proof of identity and other required personal data;
- Be up to date with electoral justice and compulsory military service;
- Payment of the corresponding consular fee;
- Not be wanted by the courts or barred from obtaining a passport.
To over 18The documents required are:
- Online form: After filling it in, print out the receipt generated by the system and sign it in the appropriate field;
- Current valid or expired passport;
- Recent passport photo;
- Original valid Brazilian identity and nationality document;
- Electoral discharge certificate;
- Military document for men;
- Payment of the consular fee: payment must be made exclusively by Australian Money Order purchased from Australia Post, payable to the agency that will be issuing the passport. Money Orders purchased online will not be accepted. Please write the applicant's full name on the back of the Money Order. Prices: AUD $216.00, for people over 18 years of age (valid for up to 10 years);
- Pre-paid, self-addressed "Express Post" envelope for the return by the MAIL of the original documents sent and the new passport.
Both Embassy how much Consulate allow people to request the new document by post or in person.
You don't have to let your passport expire to apply for a new one, as many countries require a passport valid for at least six months to enter their territory.
Passport delivery times range from 10 working days to three weeks. For urgent cases, it is recommended to contact the agency responsible for issuing the passport.
