The first step for those wishing to take advantage of the opportunities offered by English-speaking countries is to take proficiency tests. Whether it's to take courses, apply for a permanent visa or even to work, proficiency exams are responsible for opening doors for many foreigners in search of a better life, as well as more varied and well-paid positions.
Among the various exam options available, the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is among the most requested in the world, because, in addition to being accepted by more than 10,000 organizations, it can be applied in 140 countries, proving not only its efficiency for the student's learning, but also its credibility with thousands of public, private and governmental organizations.
If you are planning to experience this, you should know that there are a number of courses available to help you pass IELTS. Find out more about the preparation courses offered by Good Day Education's partner schools in Australia.
How IELTS works
Before we begin, we need to understand how the IELTS application process works and what modalities are available.
Divided into a total of four stages, the tests assess different aspects of the student's ability to relate through their writing and communication. Each mode has specific questions related to the student's objectives.
There are currently three options available, namely IELTS Academic (focusing on academic courses), IELTS General Training (focusing on everyday relationships and work) and IELTS for UKVI (focusing on visas and immigration to the UK).
In addition to these three modalities, IELTS also offers different test formats, with the options IELTS on paper and IELTS on computer. It is important to note that, as this is a proficiency test, there is no pass or fail in this exam, as the student will be assessed exclusively to determine their level of knowledge of the English language.
