It's a good fight. It's like an aussie Fla-Flu. Queensland and New South Wales share a border, but are very different from each other and, because of this, the competition between the states is fierce! With this in mind, we've put together five characteristics of each so that you can decide which one suits you best (or be even more in doubt)!
Queensland is your soul mate because it has:
1 - Gold Coast: Queensland is home to the famous Gold Coast - just to start the ball rolling! There are 57 km of incredible beaches, with sensational waves and sand so white that sometimes it's better to look at the sun, which by the way is very present there! But if that's not enough for you, the city also has lush rainforests and exciting theme parks!
2 - The Great Barrier Reef: One of the seven wonders of the natural world is in the state. Yes, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest single structure of living organisms in the world and the only one visible from space. Sensational, huh?
3 - The Daintree Rainforest: Still on the subject of nature, the oldest forest in the world also belongs to Queensland. What's more, the Daintree Forest is the natural habitat of the greatest variety of animals and plants in the world. That's it...
4 - Noosa: Do you like nature, but prefer something less wild? No problem, because the state also has Noosa. With beautiful beaches, five-star resorts, shopping centers and some of the best gastronomic experiences in Australia, Noosa is sure to delight you!
5 - Permanent summer: Yes, it gets cold in Queensland, but for most of the state, and for most of the year, the days are warm and sunny, making the beaches and pools even more inviting. If you're not a fan of winter, this is definitely the place for you!
New South Wales is home sweet home because it has:
1 - Many beaches in the city: Bondi, Coogee, Dee Why, Manly, Cronulla, Clovelly, Maroubra and many others. There are 37 beaches in Sydney. And it's not just that they're spread out and far apart. They're right next to each other, one more beautiful than the other and only 30 minutes from the city center. What does that mean? From Sunday to Sunday, a beach will be on your way!
2 - Circular Quay: Make no mistake. We're not talking about Sydney train station, although that's amazing too. We're talking about this harbor, where you can see and almost touch the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House from aboard a ferry. A simple trip to work turns into an unforgettable outing.
3 - Snow: As well as having fantastic beaches, New South Wales also caters for those who like the cold with plenty of snow. In winter, the Jindabyne, Thredbo and Perisher Valley regions are perfect for skiing, snowboarding, sledging and enjoying a delicious hot chocolate.
4 - Hunter Valley: The place is one of Australia's main wine regions, and its landscapes and gastronomic experience are just the icing on the cake. But anyone who thinks this is a winter trip is mistaken, as the region is less than an hour's drive from Newcastle's fabulous beaches. Stop it, NSW, you're starting to find yourself!
5 - Permanent entertainment: Since we're talking about permanent things, let's close with this one! The state capital doesn't go a day without offering you a festival, a concert, a performance, an exhibition or an incredible food fair. In summer, the Sydney Festival takes over the city. In winter, the Vivid lights up and warms the nights. Tread less, New South Wales!
So what? Queensland or New South Wales? After this complete list, I'm sure you already have your favorite state, right? Not yet? Don't worry, because we've left the best for last: you don't have to choose between one or the other!
By coming to Australia, you can visit and live in both countries and also count on the support of the Good Day, who, also unable to choose, is present in both states! To find out more about exchanges, contact us!
