Want to find work in Australia? Here are the five professions most in demand in the country, and the courses you should take to increase your chances of getting a job

Moving to another country requires planning and, when you don't know the reality of that region well, it's hard to know where to start. The job market in Australia has vacancies for foreigners, but you need to take technical courses or go to college to increase your chances of getting a good job.

Below are the professions that are most in demand on Australian soil at the moment. You can also check out which courses are best for getting started in each career.

Construction manager

If you are familiar with architecture or engineering and like to lead, this is a good path for you. Australia has a high demand for construction managers, both in industrial and commercial and residential projects.

To work in the field, you will need a Diploma of Building and Construction (CPC50220). If you want to further your knowledge in the field, a bachelor's degree in construction management is recommended.

Civil engineer

Civil engineers are responsible for designing and developing the infrastructure of cities: roads, bridges, highways and water supply systems, among others.

In this career, you can develop your own projects or work for government authorities, construction companies or in consultancies for private industry.

To work as a civil engineer in Australia, you need a bachelor's degree in engineering. If you already have a degree in the field, it's a good idea to take technical courses to deepen your knowledge and adapt it to Australian needs. One option is to enroll in the Certificate IV in Engineering (MEM40119)

Kindergarten teacher

This tip is ideal for those who love children: Australia has a demand for professionals who work in nurseries and early childhood education, such as nursery schools.

To enter the field, you can enroll in a technical course, such as the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121). There is also the option of a bachelor's degree, which offers more in-depth knowledge.

Licensed nurse

Essential to the health system, trained nurses are in high demand on the job market in Australia. To become a registered nurse, you need to go to university and obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing - the course takes three years.

But if you want to start working right away, you can enroll in a technical course and work in the team of a licensed nurse. To do this, choose courses such as Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121).

Systems analyst

The technology market tends to be hot and in Australia this is no different. There are vacancies for those who are fascinated by data and know how to apply it to find solutions for companies.

In this position, the aim is to apply knowledge of data science, Artificial Intelligence (such as machine learning) and cloud technology to create improvements to systems and processes, opening up new possibilities for the company's success.

There are a number of courses that open doors to this market, such as a bachelor's degree in Business (with a major in Business Analytics) and a bachelor's degree in Data Science.

Other professions on the rise in Australia are

  • Software developers
  • Electricians
  • Chefs
  • Childcare workers
  • Caring for the elderly
