A gente te ajuda. 🇦🇺 Many people think the PR process is just “study and wait”. In reality, four factors change everything: English level, actual demand for your occupation, the region you choose, and your Australian work experience. When you combine these with the right strategy, your pathway to PR becomes clearer (and faster). Want to understand the best route for your case? We’re here to help.

We talked to four Brazilian students and workers, who came to Australia with Good Day’s aid. They are living in different Aussie cities and decided to move to the country with different goals.

Check, below, their opinions on living in Australia.

Leandra Horta

39 years old

Where do you live?

Adelaide

How long have you been in Australia?

Two months.

Did you come to the country to study or work?

I moved to Australia to experience an exchange program. I am studying General English. In addition, I always dreamed of living abroad, and Australia was my choice.

What are the main advantages of living in Adelaide?

Regarding the cost of living, it is a cheaper city, and it has a lot of cultural activities. It is also a quieter place, when compared to Sydney or Melbourne.

What do you most like to do in the city?

I like to visit the beaches and to participate in cultural activities, like visiting the George Wildlife Park, going to the Fringe Festival and visiting the wineries.

Gabriela Cusma

30 years old

Where do you live?

Brisbane

How long have you been in Australia?

Four months.

Did you come to the country to study or work?

I came to Australia to study and improve my English, because knowing the language is very important for my career. But I also decided to live in Australia to give myself an opportunity to get to know different things, people and cultures, to know myself a little better and to challenge myself.

What are the main advantages of living in Brisbane?

I think Brisbane is cheaper than some other Australian cities. It is a smaller town and it’s growing really fast, so Brisbane has a lot of opportunities. People are friendly here, and it is a city with many attractions, and it’s near to the beach. Here, you can find a lot of different cultures: food, people and nightlife.

What do you most like to do in the city?

I like a lot to hang out with my friends, to go to parks, beaches, and restaurants that serve food from other countries. I also like to go to nightclubs and Brazilian parties.

Pamela da Silva e Diego Lima Verde

25 and 27 years old

Where do you live?

Perth.

How long have you been in Australia?

Three months.

Did you come to the country to study or work?

Pamela: Originally, we came to Australia to study English and get ready for the IELTS. Diego is the main test taker, and I am here as his partner. I work as a Back/Front House Team Member at a burger restaurant.

Diego: Currently, I work as a Junior Engineer at an Engineering company. We intend to stay in Australia permanently.

What are the main advantages of living in Perth?

Pamela: Even with a recent raise in the cost of living here in Australia, Perth is still cheaper than the big cities, such as Sydney and Melbourne.

Diego: There is also a strong mining industry here, which made it easier for me to find a job in Engineering, which is my profession.

What do you most like to do in the city?

Pamela: We enjoy exploring new places, as everything is pretty new for us! Since we arrived in Perth, we visited a few of the touristic and entertaining attractions, like parks, beaches and arcades.
